To the Editor;

I wish to commend the workers of Fiesta Shows and also the organizers from Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home's Auxiliary for a wonderful carnival held at the Greenville Schools Athletic Fields August 14-18, 2002.

I believe I speak for everyone involved when I say that Fiesta Shows, the professional carnival and musements company which provided the carnival, far exceeded everyone's hopes and expectations in every way. Despite newspaper reports that the carnival workers were troublesome in other Towns, I found Fiesta Shows to be very courteous, responsible, and non-troublesome. The Greenville Police Department had no incidents with carnival workers. Many of the workers camped at nearby Moosehead Family Campground, the owners of which reported no problems and said the workers were “quiet as church mice” in the evenings. My wife and children and I visited the carnival Friday evening, and were pleased to see the lack of any litter on the ground, and even saw a Fiesta hows worker making the rounds picking up trash. Unfortunately that evening, my wife's cell phone fell from her pocket and was temporarily lost. Fortunately, with the help of workers from Fiesta Shows and the Greenville Police department, it was found and returned to her without any problem the next day.

Such courtesy and respect for other people's property is also seen in how Fiesta Shows left our school grounds. Any litter produced was neatly bagged and left for their rubbish contractor to remove; the grounds were neat and the soil generally undisturbed; overall, they left the grounds without a trace of having been there. John Goodhue, Manager for the carnival, was particularly accommodating to our local ambulance service, fire and police departments. Any concerns we had as public officials he was very sensitive to, and handled very professionally. As a result, Greenville was treated to a well-mannered, professional summer carnival which I for one hope returns here again next year. School Superintendent Steve Pound was equally impressed with the good behavior and respect for property shown by Fiesta Shows, and has told me he, too, welcomes their return to the Greenville School grounds next summer.

So thank you, Fiesta Shows, and thank you, C.A. Dean Auxiliary for bringing in a class act to Greenville! Hopefully this carnival, the auxiliary fair, and Forest Heritage Days – all great events individually – will be combined into one spectacular event next year here in Greenville!

Sincerely;
John Simko
