John R. Parten Dear Mr. Parten; I have read a copy of your letter to Lois Lowe at the Moosehead Sanitary District, given to me by Lou Wortman, the Supervisor for the Sanitary District. I am very pleased to hear of your company's interest in developing passenger rail excursions across the tracks in our community! There was previous (several years ago) a season or two of scenic rail excursions between Brownville Junction and Greenville Junction (perhaps a little further). This section of track covers some breath-taking sections of the Maine North Woods which are wonderful any time of year, but are particularly spectacular in the Fall. I applaud your efforts to develop tourist rail service across this section of tracks. The Town of Greenville is very interested in learning more about your company and your plans. If you are planning a trip to Maine in the future, would you consider coming to a meeting of our Greenville Economic Development Committee to share more details regarding your plan? Please contact me when you have a moment – I would love to talk with you! Sincerely; CC Board of Selectmen |
