Greenville building projects nearly complete
Tuesday, December 21, 2004
By Diana Bowley of the News Staff - GREENVILLE - Selectmen agreed to give a Hudson contractor more time to complete the construction of a business incubator in town. C&N Builders was to have completed the project by Jan. 1, but because of complications, the project is behind. The board agreed to give the company until Jan. 31 to finish the building. If the project is still not completed at that time, the board will decide whether to assess penalties, according to Town Manager John Simko. "We're still in a cooperative arrangement," Simko said Monday. The delay is not all the company's fault, he said, noting that bids for the project initially came in too high so the project was reduced in scope, which took about 30 days.

A grand opening is planned for the facility on Jan. 28.

Simko said the board authorized him to negotiate with a company in the region that wants to lease space in the incubator. The company's name has not been disclosed and will not be until a lease has been signed, according to the town manager.

"We're working in good faith," Simko said.

Another new building in town is nearly completed. Simko said town officials will move into the new municipal building Jan.7-9. The town office will be closed on Jan. 7 to allow the move of telephones, computers and other equipment. The office will reopen Jan. 10.

"We hope the public will bear with us," Simko said.
