Greenville Selectmen meet
Police Officer stepping down, updated on school
Tuesday, November 13, 2007
By Jonathan Pratt - GREENVILLE - The Greenville Board of Selectmen met on Wednesday, November 7 to tackle an agenda that included the airport hangar project, an update on the upcoming "Deck the Halls" celebration, and an update on the school district consolidation issue from Superintendent Heather Perry.

The Board voted to approve working with developer Fred Candeloro of Kokadjo on leasing and developing part of the Town-owned property to add five new hangar lots at the airport.

The Board also voted to sign a quit-claim deed for the tax-aquired property on North Birch Street. After dealing with the issue for the past few months, the owners have now paid that taxes in full.

During the update from Superintendent Perry, it was announced that current Districts 12 and 13 (Bingham and Jackman), whom Greenville school officials had been working with, pulled out of the proposed-partnership for the time being.

Perry explained that those two districts received much more state subsidy than Greenville. Therefore, they were not in the same position as Greenville in consideration of alternatives to the new law. Perry went on to note that this does not close the door to working with them later on.

During the Police Chief's report, Chief Scott MacMaster announced that Officer Julian Harwood was departing due to family considerations. The PD has already begun advertising to fill the vacancy.
