Thursday, August 12, 2004
GREENVILLE - On Friday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. The "Music in the Gazebo" Concert series concludes with Big Daddy O and the Accelerators in the Town Gazebo located next to the Katahdin Steamship Parking Lot in the Village of Greenville. Bring your picnic blanket or lawn chair, a sweater in case of a cool lake breeze, (a parka and mittens in case it's any cooler), and sunglasses to view a classic Moosehead sunset while Big Daddy O and the Accelerators promises to bring you classic rock and roll instrumental tunes that take you back to the days of ‘56 Chevies, high energy surfin’ music, and the great beat that defines what rock and roll music truly is !

A little more about Big Daddy O and the Accelerators -
Big Daddy, who is Paul Tartachny, has been playing musical instruments since he was a child. He went “pro” when he was 13 and played with old blues masters and their groups around the Boston area. He went on to play lead for the critically acclaimed group - Beacon Street Union - which was on top charts around the U.S. He has also played with Chuck Berry, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Jimmy Hendricks and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few. The music trade magazine Cash Box dubbed Tartachny “the funkiest guitarist around”.

Rhythm guitarist Mike Brooks owns the Brewster Inn with his wife, Ivy. Steeped in the traditions of Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, Mike has followed the road back to his love of rock and roll roots and the Ventures as he provides solid rhythm for Tartachney’s lead guitar. One of Mike’s guitar students, John Lilly, became rhythm guitarist for the popular rock group, the Hooters.

Drummer Albert, “Mountain Man” Merrick has played with rock and country bands throughout New England. He got his start in high school and has been playing ever since. He has worked with Dick Curliss, among others, providing a solid beat that keeps everyone’s toes tapping and fingers snapping.

Bass guitarist Shelagh Talbot has played throughout the United States, Europe and Japan as a single act with vocals and guitar. Her favorite past gigs were in Osaka, Japan and Las Vegas at the old Dunes casino. She writes and sings her own material but with Big Daddy O’s band, she provides the old rock and roll bass riffs for that authentic 50s and 60s sound.

Rain venue: Ready Workers Community House located on the corner of Lakeview and Pritham Avenue. This concert is open to the public. Donations for the concert series are welcomed and appreciated!
