Our traditional Forest Heritage Days woods tour will have a new "intermodal" twist this year. One half of the group will begin the tour cruising on the historic Katahdin steamship from Greenville to Lily Bay. The second group will board a bus tour in Greenville, meeting the "Kate" in Lily Bay, where lunch will be served to both groups at the "Tin Barn". The group on the Kate will disembark and board the bus for the woods resource tour, and the bus tour group will board the Kate and return to Greenville in time for the traditional Public Supper at the Ready Workers Community House. The theme of this year?s tour is: "Yesterday and Today... From the Woods and the Water". The history of the log driving era will be a featured topic, and how the balance between recreational and industrial use has evolved since those early days of lumbering. Pre-registration is required and cost will be $20 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting Rhonda at 207-695-2241 / rarey@plumcreek.com |
