Old Home Days Highlights

A variety show and home-cooked dinner will highlight Old Home days at Shirley on August 15 and 17.

The variety show will be begin at the Shirley town hall at 7 p.m. on August 15, with a number of talented folks taking part. There's no telling what manner of hi-jinks may occur during this event, which will include singing, music and special acts. Talent is still being added, and you are encouraged to take part by calling Colleen Ashe at 695-2517 or Janet Parker at 695-3163 no later than Wednesday, August 13. Admission to the variety show will be by donation to benefit the Shirley United Methodist Church.

On Sunday, events will begin with a special service at 11 a.m. at the Shirley United Methodist Church, to be followed by the popular public dinner at the town hall beginning at 12:30 p.m. The menu will include ham, potato salad, cole slaw, homemade baked beans, breads and beverage. Also included is the ever-popular special treat: a large selection of homemade pies!

Cost of the dinner is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children aged 5 to 12. Children under five years of age are admitted free of charge.
