GREENVILLE - Heather Perry of Machiasport was hired Thursday as the new Union 60 superintendent of schools. Perry, who is expected to begin her duties next month, has served as principal at Fort O'Brien Elementary School in Machiasport from 2002 to 2006. Before that, she was principal of Bay Ridge School in Cutler. She earned her master's degree in education at the University of Maine. "I'm really very pleased," Dick Gould, a Union 60 school board member and Greenville school committee member, said Friday of Perry's selection. Union 60 comprises Greenville, Willimantic, Shirley, Beaver Cove and Kingsbury Plantation. The vote to hire Perry was unanimous, he said. Gould said he was impressed with Perry because of her experience in education, her abilities and her disposition. Her salary will be in the $70,000 range, but the final amount has not yet been determined, Gould said. Some details still are being negotiated, he said. |
