A very special train ride in Quebec is in store for those taking part in a July 14 excursion sponsored by the Moosehead Historical Museum in Greenville. Several shorter train rides have been sponsored by the museum in the past, but this is a never-before-offered 3.5 hour railroad trip on "Trains Touristique de Chaudiere-Appalache" from Valley Junction, Quebec to St. Isadore (near Quebec City), a 50 kilometer trip. A special feature of this trip will be a stop at a unique Quebec "sugar bush" operation. Since this excursion offers different and spectacular scenery not seen on previous trips, it will be of special interest to railroad enthusiasts. Trains Touristique de Chaudiere-Appalache uses vintage rail cars and there will be an English-speaking local guide for the group. Additionally, there will be live traditional Quebec musical entertainment during the rail trip. Cost of the trip is $65 per person, and that includes transportation on an air conditioned motorcoach (which has a restroom) and admissions. Lunch (not included in the price) will be at the popular St. Hubert restaurant in St. Georges. There will be departure locations for this trip in Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford, Abbot, Monson, Greenville, and Rockwood, and the trip will be escorted. Due to the short period of time before the trip, immediate telephone reservations are required by calling 695-2909. For more information, contact the Moosehead Historical Museum at the same telephone number. |
