GREENVILLE - The Moosehead Historical Museum is sponsoring an exciting two day escorted bus trip to explore beautiful New Brunswick, Canada on July 22 and 23. Reservations are now being accepted and seats are filling fast. "The Saints Tour" will include St. Andrews-by-the-Sea on historic Passamaquoddy Bay; St. Stephen, the "city made famous by chocolate;" and the seaside city of St. John. On the first day, the group traveling on an air-conditioned tour bus will ride along "The Airline" through eastern Maine (also known as Route 9), crossing the border at Calais. From there it's on to an included luncheon in historic St. Andrews. Following lunch there will be a city tour with a local guide, who will discuss the town's history as the group steps back in time to the era of the Loyalists of the Revolutionary War. Thee also will be emphasis on the 400th anniversary of the French settlement at St. Croix Island, which the group will pass on its way to St. Andrews. There will be time for shopping and sightseeing in St. Andrews, which in many ways resembles Bar Harbor 40 years ago (lots of shops without the crowds). Later in the afternoon, it's on to St. John for anovernight stay at the luxurious Hilton Hotel on the waterfront downtown. That night, following a reception at the hotel, it's off to one of the many restaurants in Market Square or a short walk to a live dinner theater. On the second day, there will be a city tour of St. John and a visit with reception at the New Brunswick Provincial Museum. Following lunch, the group will head to St. Stephen for a visit at the world-famous Ganong Chocolate Factory outlet store, where everyone will load up on rich goodies that have no calories. The cost of the two day trip is $175 per person, and that includes transportation, luxurious overnight accommodations, luncheon in St. Andrews, all admissions, tours and refreshments. Advance registration is required as soon as possible as many seats on the motorcoach are already booked. Please call the Moosehead Historical Museum office at 695-2909 to arrange a reservation. If no one is in the office, leave a message. Moosehead Historical Museum charters tour buses from Cyr Bus Line, and there is a restroom on board. The trip will be fully escorted. |
