Incumbent, newcomer elected in Greenville

By Diana Bowley of the News Staff - GREENVILLE - An incumbent and a newcomer were elected on Tuesday to the Greenville Board of Selectmen in a very close race.

Alan McBrierty, who received 156 votes, was returned to the board for another term, and Daniel McLaughlin, who received 105 votes, was elected to fill a second seat.

McLaughlin received one vote more than incumbent Bruce Hanson, who received 104 votes. Another candidate, Paul Arno Fictner III, received 98 votes.

Also elected on Tuesday were Richard Gould and Boyd Kronholm to the two three-year positions on the Greenville School Committee. Georgianna "Candy" Russell was elected to a three-year term on the Shaw Public Library board of trustees.
