Friday, June 06, 2003
DEXTER - The fast growing North Country Riding Club eagerly awaits their 1st horse show of the season this Sunday at Bud Ellms Field. This show is a Ribbon Equitation Horse Show and begins at 8:30 am Rain or Shine with the morning session registrations closing at 8:15 a.m. Judge Jane Gray and Ringmaster Sarah Hanscome will be presiding over the show.

The NCRC club boasts a new/old Office as well. Member Phoebe Kelley's grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Peters of Glendburn generously donated all the time to recondition our office trailer with new paint, inside and out, new floor coverings, new door and so much more.

The NCRC 2003 Programs are hot of the press and are now available in many local stores in Dexter and will be in surrounding towns. They will also be available this Sunday at the horse show. Generous advertisers & sponsors from throughout Central Maine sponsored this years programs in addition to helping sponsor NCRC's High School Scholarship Fund, Year-End Banquet, the All Stake Trophy Show, the upkeep of the horse ring at Bud Ellms Field and other activities year round.

Judy Edgerly donated an almost New Black 18W Dressage saddle that is in awesome condition and will be raffled off throughout the summer. Tickets are $5 a piece and only 100 tickets will be sold.

J&S Horses and Livestock, who did NCRC sled rides last winter, will be setting up a Round Pen to be used for display as well as for warming up horses before classes. They will be offering grain, buckets and some small tack items and have a black lab puppy for sale and several calves if anyone is interested. Their telephone 732-5366.

Farrier Harry Akkerman is on call for shoeing emergencies throughout the show, but can be contacted at (207) 683-2849.

Tim Briggs will be bringing his horse Jinger for the opening presentation to the national anthem with his cart for something exciting and different. Tim is also in charge on the "poopy scoopy" detail! (he volunteered)

Also new this year is 2 Carriage Classes in hopes of adding more classes in the future. Patti Dowse has designed the Carriage Driving Obstacle course and it will be posted at the office for you drivers. Rules and Regulations can be found on NCRC's website.

If you are planning to ride in Dexter, please remember RABIES AND COGGINS MUST BE SHOWN AT REGISTRATION. If you wish to make a copy prior to Sunday we can keep this on file for you for future events in 2003.

Riders from ages 2 to ??? are invited to attend every NCRC's shows and can find pre-registration forms, classes, dates and lots more at www.DexterRidingClub.com. Spectators are also welcome and there is no fee to get in.
