Michaud Secures Funding for Greenville and Bass Harbor
House Passes Energy & Water Appropriations Bill
Friday, May 27, 2005
Washington, D.C.- Late last evening, Congressman Michael Michaud voted for the Fiscal Year 2006 Energy and Water Appropriations bill, which included two important projects located in Maine's Second Congressional District, as well as funding for renewable energy programs, Department of Energy science programs, and environmental cleanup activities.

The appropriations bill included $500,000 for the Greenville Steam Efficiency Demonstration Project (GSEDP), which will increase electricity production and reduce emissions from an existing biomass power plant. The Energy and Water bill also included $95,000 to complete design for a channel and anchorage project in Bass Harbor.

"I'm very pleased to be able to secure funding for these important projects," said Congressman Michaud. "The Greenville project could be a model for biomass facilities across the nation and the funding for Bass Harbor is critical for the completion of the channel and anchorage project."

Final approval of the bill by both the House and Senate will be required, and is expected later this fall.
