DEXTER - May 3, 2003 NCRC members joined together at Bud Elms Field in Dexter to prepare the Horse Show Grounds for their upcoming 2003 season.
Over 20 volunteers joined together for a productive workday. Adults and children, from age 2 to the young at heart, picked rocks, raked and removed sod around the 100 x 150 ring site. The white railed fencing was straighted from the frost over the winter.
The NCRC registration booth is currently receiving a new "face lift" this show season. NCRC members are volunteering their time and efforts to have the registration booth painted and several upgrades done to the exterior and interior as well as the showgrounds. Membership is still growing and members derived from all over Central Maine. Membership applications can be downloaded from the NCRC website at www.DexterRidingClub.com.
May brought in applications for the 2003 NCRC High School Scholarship Award. The Scholarship Award Committee is reviewing and will be announcing a decision soon on the receipient. This will be the first year NCRC has been able to offer such a scholarship, and are hoping to be able to increase the number & amount of the scholarships in the future. NCRC is starting their 3rd year with a Ribbon Equitation Horse Show at Bud Elms Field, on June 8, 2003. The show will begin at 8:30a.m. and continues well into the late afternoon hours with FREE admission for spectators.
