State of Maine American Legion Auxiliary's Juniors Convention

The State of Maine American Legion Auxiliary's Juniors Convention was held on Sunday, April 30, 2006, at the Cecil R. Cole Post #94 in Greenville. There were 28 juniors in attendance from around the state. Dignitaries included ALA President Nicky Weatherby, ALA Historian Charlotte "Kitty" Wing, AL Commander Lloyd Woods, SAL Commander Joe Cooper, Commander of Post #94 Pete Johnson and Commander of Post #136 Andy Olson. Elections results were: Shelby Ward of Greenville - Honorary Sergeant at Arms, Michaela Weston of Brownville - Honorary Historian, Mallarie McNich of Greenville - Honorary Chaplain and Honorary Secretary, Venessa Hastings of Greenwood - Honorary Vice President, Tiffany Howard of Greenville - Honorary Treasurer, Norita Boynton of Greenville - Honorary Vice President and Amelia Butman of Greenville - Honorary Junior President. Dana Sherwood of Brownville was appointed as Honorary Public Relations Chairperson.

Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary contribute to the same programs as Senior members, but participate with friends of their own age. Some programs are participating in parades, patriotic observances, tutor younger students, food drives, travel to other cities and towns and states, help out veterans, volunteer at the nursing homes and VA hospitals, volunteer in Legionnaires' events.
