GREENVILLEE JUNCTION - The Moosehead Historical Society and the Moosehead Marine Museum are developing a series of oral history presentations to be held at the Depot Street Development. It is a lunchtime series on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. Abby Freethy of the Little Leaf Restaurant will offer luncheon at noon with limited menu items ranging from $8 to $12. There is no charge for the presentation, but luncheon will require reservations. The first in the series will be "Rockwood in the 1930's and 1940's" the panel will be made up of Duke McKeil, Frances Bigney, Mary Walden and Francis Tomer. The format is open ended and will feature anecdotal remembrances of the panel with discussion from the audience. McKeil will be the moderator. The sessions will be taped and held by the Historical Society for use of the public. The period chosen is characterized by the depression, the closing of the Mount Kineo Hotel, WPA road building connecting Rockwood and Greenville, loss of the Maine Central Railroad, and the Native American settlement at Yankee Hill. The 40's with World War II and the loss of tourism and the POW camp at Seboomook. The first session will be held at The Depot on March 8.
