Open house slated for new Greenville municipal building
Thursday, January 27, 2005
GREENVILLE - Years of conducting their municipal business in a hallway leading to closet-size offices is now a memory for residents and visitors. Town officials have settled into a new municipal building across the road that has a spacious waiting area and large, bright rooms for local police, the code enforcement officer, town manager, town treasurer and town clerk. It also has a small kitchen and a large meeting room. The new offices are on Minden Street.

An open house for the $400,000 construction project will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, awards and refreshments.

"Just having something updated and modern is a 100 percent improvement," Cindy Hanscom, deputy town treasurer and bookkeeper, said Monday. "When you have a nice place, it's nice to come to work."

Hanscom said the new building has been long awaited.

Beth Gaudet, administrative assistant in the Greenville Police Department, said Monday she is pleased that all files and materials pertaining to the department are within reach compared to the department's former office, where some materials had to be stored elsewhere in the building.

"It's very nice, very spacious," Gaudet said.

The former municipal building is now being used by the Fire Department.

Telephone numbers remain the same for the town offices.
