Moosehead Riders Trail Report
Friday, January 16, 2009
I hope everyone got out and rode the trails last week because they were outstanding.

All the trail preparation and early panning of the trails has paid off with flat, smooth trails all over the Greenville region.

We have a foot deep frozen snow base and the latest snow on top has given us the ability to really put down great trails. All the ITS and club trails are signed and being groomed on a regular basis, so we can expect another great weekend of riding this week. As long as we don't get a warm up or rain, the trails should stay in great shape for a long time.

It is expected to be very cold this weekend, but if the wind stays calm, it should be excellent riding weather.

The club is very excited about our new Lily Bay Mountain Trail. We have gotten permission from Plum Creek to use a hauling road up over the top of the south end of Lily Bay Mountain. This trail is being groomed by a club member with a triangle track Jeep Wrangler. He is grooming from the B52, on EJ's trail, out to Lily Bay Mountain and up and over the top to meet up with ITS 85 north to Kokadjo. The trail is newly signed and snow covered all the way. On a clear day, the views are "jaw-dropping" to say the least. This new trail will give us the basis for a complete Lily Bay Mountain Loop Trail that will be signed as such sometime soon. I believe this loop will give us the most scenic mountain trail in the state.

The club will be starting the weekly 'Wednesday Rides" next Wednesday, the 21st with a ride over the new mountain loop trail. Come and join us for a great breakfast at the clubhouse at 8:00am.
